Writing: Clearly written, using simple tables and very minimalist in nature

Art/design: Simple line art and basic table layouts make this very easy on the eyes, the maps are excellently done by Dyson Logos
 
Usability: This one will take some work on the part of the Harbourmaster to turn it in to a proper adventure. Fortunately the author has left space for notes on each page for just that purpose and the map is left unkeyed so that you can move and place things as needed.

Dead apes tell no tales

Concept: Four new Monsters to populate The Dark Caribbean
 
 Content: Four new Creatures for your adventures. A Chest bound Forban, a Crocodilian Sorcerer, a Possessed Dinghy, and a Sun dried Zombie

Writing: All four entries are tightly written with a small bit of flavour text added, accompanied by an introduction from Yonko, the undead Orang-Outang.

Art/design: Excellent artwork accompanies each entry and serves it well with a large amount of space present to allow for ease of use in each Entry.

Usability: Each of these creatures would be a welcome addition to any Pirate Borg adventure. They all accurately represent the feel of The Dark Caribbean.

Writing: Blessedly this product includes Printer Friendly versions of its entries and they are all written in a legible manner. Entries are all content forward and leave the details to the Harbourmaster to dress them up with.

Art/design: Stylistically the black and white of this supplement embodies the concept, layout is simple but useful without being gaudy.

Usability: Any Harbourmaster can use more creatures to pit their Players against, even as inspiration for your own variants this supplement is a worthwhile addition.

Forlorn Encounters

Concept: Inhabitants of extraordinary customs and peculiar morphologies can be encountered in the remote reaches of the Dark Caribbean. It is my earnest hope that this compilation will be of significant value to scholars from distant latitudes and serve as a cautionary guide to unwary travelers.

Content: This PDF consists of a series of 6 NPCs compatible with Pirate Borg and Mörk Borg.

Writing: Presented as excerpts from an exploration of The Dark Caribbean (Pirate Borg's Setting) these six Entries all serve well to provide an intriguing range of NPCs for your group to discover in their travels.
 
Art/design: Artwork provided by Francisco Lemos is highly evocative of the Setting and carries a wonderful atmosphere, with Editing by Melfy
 
Usability:  This project would be an excellent starting point for an adventure or side quest in any Dark Caribbean game.

Fort Dread

Concept: Welcome to Fort Dread.
A strange prison built on the back of a dead whale in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. Lorded over by the cruel Warden, hungry for power, and with a lusting for punishment. 
 
Content: This adventure module features detailed maps, new enemies, NPCs, and additional tables for your Pirate Borg playing experience.  

Writing: In keeping with the spirt of Pirate Borg this adventure/location is very well written in a short form factor, all language is clear and flows well. Quite an engaging read.
 
Art/design: Wonderful layout with some genuinely unique artwork sprinkled throughout. Very little space is left unfilled with content, colour selection and font sizes are all in keeping with the concept and easily legible

Usability: This is a great Adventure for getting your pirates off the ship for a while and it packed with interesting tables, creatures and plot options not to mention a series of memorable NPCs and Creatures.

Foul Winds & Forbidden Seas

Concept: A menagerie of eldritch hazards and alchemical oddities for the aspiring pirate to encounter in the Caribbean and beyond. Revised and expanded with a new layout, artwork and additional content!

Writing: Simply written as is needed in this instance, Entries are tightly done and well thought out.

Art/design: Clever use of many pieces of artwork, suffers slightly from empty space however. Font and Colour selections are well done and easy to read.

Usability: Additions to the Bestiary are always a welcome thing for any Harbourmaster and this entry serves well in all regards. Whether as idea fuel or straight up additions to your game.

Harceleur

Concept: A new Creature type for Pirate Borg.
 
Content: Everything you need to run this devilish little beast up against your Pirates.

Writing: With just enough meat on its bones the text of this entry gives you all the playing prompts you might need to harass your Players with a Harceleur.

Art/design: Excellent use of art and colour make this entry supremely easy to read and use.

Usability: A great addition to any long voyage after a successful raid by a Pirate Crew to spice up their return voyage.

Hidden Dangers

Concept:  There be many menaces in the Dark Caribbean, hiding where you least expect them.  The Roger's Spider lurks in the jungles, the aberrant Jetsam and Flotsam hunt for sailors by shore and sea, and the common bilge rat begins to take on the eldritch powers of The Deep as they A W A K E N.

Content: Six new beasties to challenge your Pirates with.
 
Writing: Well written with a very obvious love of the subject matter, each entry has ample flavour to it and all go well together as a cohesive whole.
 
Art/design:  Lovely artwork, excellent use of Layout to bring the creatures to 'life' on the page. Very nice colours compliment the whole.

Usability: If you love to plague your Pirates with seemingly mundane creatures that turn out not to be.. this is for you in particular.. if you ever wanted to make the Rats on your Crews ship more fun to deal with then this is DEFINITELY for you.

Klabautermann

Concept: A Haunting for your Crews Ship

Content: Six Pages defining a series of random tables to build a Haunt for your Pirate crew culminating in the Stats for the dread beast you craft.

Writing: Evocatively written to fuel the Harbourmasters mind and provide an entertaining addition to any vessel. Several Tables guide you in the creating of your very own unique Klabautermann with which to saddle your crew. Will it be beneficial? Will it be vengeful? Will your crew figure out how to keep it in a good mood? Or will they suffers its wrath and anger the Haunt?

Art/design: Artwork is minimalist but does a good job conveying the mood and tone of the work, layout and design are clean/concise and do their jobs effectively.
 
Usability: This product can be anything from an entertaining diversion or mystery to be solved all the way up to a mascot for the crew to enjoy and learn about. It is quirky without being cumbersome.

Art/design: A near perfect compliment to the writing, the art and layout of this supplement are astonishing. Blending together seamlessly with the writing to create a piece of pirate art.
 
Usability: Every Harbourmaster worth their salt takes great pains to bring The Dark Caribbean to life and infuse the setting into the minds of their Players and this supplement is a masterwork in that concept. Each gang is unique and well rounded enough to that it could easily be added to a variety of locales as needed. A careful Harbourmaster will need to consider some of the items it will introduce to their game however as some of them may influence game balance.

Writing: This product is jam packed with content and all of it is expertly presented to be of maximum use.

Art/design: Special attention has been given to selection of complimentary colours and styles with minimal artwork present allowing for some very Pirate Borg layout choices.

Usability: Rough Seas is a veritable treasure for any Harbourmaster. Tables for every occasion and they are all well conceived to boot. Certainly worth the addition to your Harbourmaster collection!

Concept: Scapegallows is an adventure for level 1 Pirates.
Content:
  • 1 session of about 3 hours with a scenario large enough to allow players maximum mobility and 2 structured endings

Writing: In Nassau, there is a bar carved out of an old beached brigantine, called the "Scapegallows". Inside, some of the worst pirates spend their free time between raids, under the benign but firm gaze of Derrick "Good Eye", a retired pirate with a wooden leg.
Everything seems to be going smoothly until the peace of the free city is disturbed by an unexpected merchant ship.

Shanties of the Sargasso

Concept: Bermuda is awash with choking sargassum. The dead rise from its tangles. A patch of seaweed and flotsam drifts westward, carrying the broken ships of the damned.  Between the lapping waves one can hear their mournful dirges, the Shanties of the Sargasso.
 
Content: Shanties of the Sargasso includes setting information on Bermuda (now the Isle of Devils), a new class, new monsters, and an ASH-laden adventure atop a cluster of shipwrecks tangled up among the sargassum. It's replete with two-faced devils who smoke tobacco from their rear ends, living seaweed bursting from beneath the surface of the water, and all manner of depravity.

Writing: Shanties is superb in its writing, exceptionally engaging content.

Art/design: Embracing a more Mork Borg aesthetic with a Pirate Borg colour palette, the layout and font selection is beautiful despite the raucous amount of colour and stylized layout it works perfectly well and is remarkably easy to read/navigate.

Usability: Whether it is for the Adventure alone or the new Ash Dealer class, this Supplement is well worth the addition to your Pirate Borg Library. It epitomizes the Third Party license beautifully.

The Avatars Awaken

Concept: Create your own Avatar
 
Content: Large Rollable Table with which to randomly generate an Avatar to send against your Pirate Crew.
 
Writing: Expertly written and edited to provide you with exactly what you need and nothing else.

Art/design: Layout and Design of this product are very tightly done, the table is clearly setup and labelled, fonts are well chosen and colour palette is very complimentary to the core concept of temple exploration.

Usability: Every Harbourmaster eventually stumbles into the 'trap' of trying to come up with compelling or at the very least interesting Monsters to send against their players and this supplement hopes to alleviate some of that burden by brining you a host of Avatars and their abilities to confound your group. Certainly an excellent Generator Tool for any Temple crawling adventure.

The Darkwater Covenant

Concept: Four strange and cruel entities that exist in a dark harmony, feeding off the unfortunate and the drowned.

Content: Four new creatures to send against your Pirates, fully detailed and with excellent art.
 
Writing: Very well written in as much as they are Monster entries.

Art/design: Gorgeous artwork and lovely layout do a lot to compliment the theme and tone of these Entries. Very easy to use!

Usability: These are four creatures that fit in perfectly seamlessly with the Pirate Borg Core book. They definitely belong in every Harbourmasters repertoire.

The Eldritch Jungle

The Marionette Islands

Concept: The Dark Caribbean is host to many foul entities plaguing its waters, with most travellers clinging to the safety of the various islands dotted along its accursed depths, we are safe on these islands.... Right??

Content: A singularly powerful creature with Tables to create your own as well.

Writing: An interesting concept of a creature with a story/setting attached to it. Well written with a few typos here and there.

Art/design: Unique artwork and solid layout with good colour selections and font usage make this a very easy to use entry.

Usability: A good interlude creature for your Pirates if you need a short one shot or if you wish to dot your own Dark Caribbean with several of them at various stages of growth.

Writing: Simply written with an eye towards table interactions, interesting options and outcomes throughout.

Art/design: Tongue in cheek as the supplement may be, the Artwork and colour choices are excellent in this product, tables are tightly laid out, not confusing in any way.

Usability: Every Pirate Borg game will have occasional random passersby, tavern patrons, crowds and so forth. This supplement lets you inject some unique character to what is traditionally an otherwise handwaved part of your narrative and would make for an excellent addition to your already created NPCs to give them some more life.

Tropical Terrors

Concept: Four new NPCs to add some bizarre flavour to The Dark Caribbean
 
Content: Tropical Terrors adds an additional 4 NPCs for your island adventures. What they lack in modesty, armor and rational thought, they make up for in their ability to come out of nowhere.

Writing: Definitely a tongue in cheek presentation this supplement is well designed and represented in its prose.

Art/design: Entertaining layout and amusing artwork are blended together in a whimsical presentation.

Usability: These four NPCs would be very well at home in any jungle setting to plague your Players adventures with. A little levity can go a long way sometimes, in The Dark Caribbean.

Usability: With something of a dearth of large sea beasties these two entries are wonderfully useful and excitingly thematic.

Unnatural Life in the Caribbean

Concept: A collection of Creatures to add to your Pirate Borg Bestiary

Content: Four new entries for your seafaring adventures
 
Writing: Interesting choices for the Abilities of the creatures make this product unique to say the least. Some wording inconsistencies.

Art/design: Layout is a little cluttered, colour work is nicely done and the art itself is original if a bit lost in the background.

Usability: If you want to baffle your players with unusual beasts then consider using some of these in your next game.

Upon Red Tides

Concept: A creative toolbox for any Harbourmaster to infuse a different style of gameplay.

Content: 13 Pages of Adventures, two new Classes and a new NPC Pirate Captain.

Writing: Upon Red Tides is an immersive read if you embrace its core concepts and go with the flow. Exceptionally well written and presented.

Art/design: Layout and Artwork are top notch in this entry, colour choices are vivid and bold enough without being sloppy or garish. While some of the font choices are a little too thematic making them difficult to read in PDF without considerable zooming in it takes away nothing from the effectiveness of their use.

Usability: Easily recommendable for the abundance of content that can quickly and easily be taken in to any Harbourmasters library. A trove of HMing treasure to be sure.

Verminous Scum

Concept: A faction of rats to drop into your Pirate Borg campaign.
 
Content: Several new Rat Types and a Table to help you build your own unique versions

Writing: Aside from the Text of the Creature entries there is no extraneous writing to speak of.

Art/design: Lovely artwork and layout does a great job of selling Rats of all shapes and sizes.

Usability: Rats are present everywhere in Pirate Borg, now  you can make use of them as creatures of their own!

Wrath of the Coatl

Concept: Discover the mysteries of a secluded place, where the presence of inquisitors, whispers of ancient cult, troubled waters and vanished abbey obscure the truth.
 
Content:

  • Map of San Hilario's coast: A map charting the key landmarks and events along the shoreline to help you navigate around the coast.
  • 3 key NPCs and their crew: With each having their own motivations and unique methods for uncovering the treasure.
  • Manati's village: A fisherman's village harboring a secret Mesoan cult. Explore the village with hooks and rumors. But all may not be trustworthy...
  • Fortress of San Hilario: 2-page dungeon, an Inquisition fortress that appears to hold many secrets within its walls.
  • Sunken abbey of San Hilario: 2-page dungeon, a sunken abbey which doesn't seem uninhabited...
  • New monster with unique combat-mechanic: Meet the social crabs known for their group behavior and ability to inhabit objects of various sizes.

Writing: This supplement is beautifully well written and is bursting with information for the Harbourmaster in every corner. Every entry is clear in both prose and game design.

Art/design: Several art styles combine to bring this supplement to life and while it may seem disconnected, it somehow manages to tie all aspects together. Taking many style notes from Pirate Borg's own core Rules makes this supplement very familiar to the eyes. Background colours and textures all compliment well with the exception of the Abbey map near the end which seems confusing at first glance.

Usability: If you are low on time to prep an adventure then Wrath of the Coatl is your new friend. An entire island detailed with Maps, NPCs, Adventures and Hooks that can be placed wherever you might need it. Ample notes, new Creatures, NPC motivations and an over-arching Plot are all included.

Zombie Insect

Concept: A tiny foe for Pirate Borg
 
Content: Bare bones, but no less terrifying, this insect can be a terror for your Players.

Writing: Very little aside from the Stat Block and a small consequences Table.

Art/design: Little in the way of artwork save for the Background, however the cover image is suitably eye catching and terrifying.

Usability: If you find your Players have grown overconfident in their ability to defeat the foes you throw at them, try this creature for a tactical change of pace.
